Saraswathy Vaidyanathan

Saraswathy has completed her LL.M. in Intellectual Property (IP) from University of Edinburgh, UK. She has done her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. As her favorite character from Potterverse, Hermoine Granger, Saraswathy’s interest in IP stemmed from her love for books and libraries. For her LL.M. thesis, she looked at the interface of copyright and the right to education in the light of Delhi University photocopy case. Before joining CIIPC, Saraswathy worked at Inter University Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT where she worked on the project relating to accessibility of learning materials to the visually impaired persons in the State of Kerala. She has also provided online teaching and research assistance for NPTEL’s courses on IP.
In the IP verse, Saraswathy is a ‘pro access’ person interested in copyrights, trademarks, and interface of IP with human rights. She also takes keen interests in women and child rights. Outside the world of IP and law, Saraswathy is a music lover and is trained in Carnatic vocals. At CIIPC, Saraswathy would be working on the project ‘Regulation of Digital Markets in the Context of Big Data, AI, and IoT’.
